My Teaching Philosophy
Art reinforces the importance of developing creative problem solving skills that are critical for success in our rapidly changing society. Art also fosters the development of learning about ourselves and those around us. Developing skills in art are necessary because creativity and design are utilized in every aspect of the professional world. A philosophy of art education must involve an understanding of student learners, child development, artistic development and how each student learns ideas and concepts differently but thus reaching the conclusion of design or processes. As a visual arts educator, I am constantly looking for ways to improve my subject knowledge and pedagogical skills. I set an example by continuing to be a student and always fostering my love for learning. I always strive to enlighten my students, never forgetting the influence I have on them and the connection that are made in and out of the classroom.
